There’s no way around it—everything we produce and eat has an environmental impact. From the fertilizer we apply to fields and the animals that graze on them, to the water we use for irrigation and the carbon that’s released as we transport meat and produce, every stage of production puts stress on our environment. And we’re at a critical inflection point that will predict the future of our food systems. The global population is expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050. Climate change concerns are growing. Shifts in land use toward agriculture are causing rapid deforestation. If we want to advance our food systems, we absolutely have to protect and regenerate the environment. With the right tools, we can harness the immense potential of our collective and reimagine a positive future for our planet and the people who live on it.
